Tide, Feather, Snow: A Life In Alaska (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
This book was recommended to me by a friend before I visited Alaska. I tried reading it, it just couldn't connect. I made it about 3/4 of the way through before finally admitting that I was bored. While the details of salmon fishing were modestly amusing, overall I just wasn't that interested in this woman's life. Maybe not enough research to provide the reader with other connections. Ah well. You can't love them all! A VERY enjoyable read. I appreciate the author's eloquent observations of daily life in and around the Homer, Alaska area. I liked the way they made me nod and smile. If you live in Alaska, this is a must read; if you've been to or are planning a visit, this is a must read; if you crave a taste of a beautiful world far and away from your urban or suburban life, again, this is a must read. Put on a pot of tea and enjoy...
