I had recently graduated high school and had been sending applications all over the state for different colleges. I walked into the front door of my parent’s house, yelling excitedly, “I got in, guys! Mom! Dad! The university accepted my application!!!” My parents ran down the stairs and gave me a big hug. “Nicole, we are so proud of you!” my dad said as he squeezed me tight. “I love you so much and I know that you’ll be successful. I do wish you had gotten into the more religious oriented school that you applied to, but the university will be great for you, too. We are so proud of you, honey.” My parents were very religious and therefore, I was as well. I had gone to a very prestigious and religious private high school. My parents really wanted me to go to a private college that was built around our religion, but I didn’t get accepted because my grades weren’t quite good enough. I was a little bit disappointed because most of my friends that I had met during church camp that summer would be attending the private college.
