I really liked the mystery involved in this story it definitely keeps you guessing from one minute to the next what adventure the boys will encounter. The whole series is based around this crazy house that has managed to steal their mother away and now they are determined to find her and bring her back. The story is continued from one book to the next with five books in all. This was book #4. I'm pulling for the family I hope in the end they are all reunited and get the heck out of that house! But first I hope they tell us why the house was built in the first place. It seems the house contains portals to mostly the past that they must travel through searching for their mother. Does not stand on its own. Should have read the ones before it. Ends in complete cliff hanger with David and Xander both in bad places.Hoping to finally locate their mother, David, Xander, and Toria King venture into the near future and discover a world in which Taksidian has taken over and populated a destroyed city with strange mutants. Before long, the Kings realize they are out to save not just their mother, but humanity itself.
a bit more graphic than the others, but still a good read for tweens
