To A Mountain In Tibet (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

This book started out very strong; I could not put it down. Vivid descriptions, insightful reflections, and adventure add up for me to be a page-turner. And then midway through I got stuck with the history and culture text that seemed to go on and on. Interesting but to a point. If I don't like a book I just stop reading it but I wanted to give this one a chance so I finished it and well, I rated it 3 stars so I guess that tells you something. The most sacred mountain in the world. Believed to by the center of the earth for millions of years by the religious faiths... Worshipped by more than one fifth of humanity since time immemorial.Beautifully written about nature people pilgrims and of course about the philosophy of religions.Author describes humanity and religious faiths with philosophy with great care. Similar we find in his descriptions of the beauty of nature and landscapes. Sunrise on manassarovar is simply beyond any expression.Overall occasionally a bit difficult to understand but nevertheless a very good reading.
