Trusting You (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I love book series that can be read as standalones, but also incorporate characters from other books within the series, and I should have know that Melissa would get her second chance at love when she was first introduced in Love's Second Chance. While I found it hard to connect with the characters and story at the beginning of the first book in this series, I had no problem jumping right into this one, and I loved the characters from the get go. The idea of a sexy one night stand coincidentally becoming more was very appealing, especially with someone like Brett in the mix. He and Melissa's chemistry was smoking hot, and I liked that Brett was sexy but not your typical bad boy. This book was filled with romance and sensuality, but I loved that it wasn't all about Brett and Melissa's relationship. There was intrigue and mystery, and as the story developed the more suspenseful it became, to the point where it got extremely frightening. Daniel was one psycho douche bag who deserved so much worse than he got. This book grabbed my attention from page one and took me on one crazy ride. I loved every second. I know I am in the minority on this, but Melissa's character did so many things to Brett that she swore she would never do and would never let him get away with. When Brett and Melissa meet months after their one-night stand, she gives him grief for it as if she wasn't part of it. Then her decision making for being a biology teacher was laughable at points. There is no way she should have been even remotely threatened by what her ex was proposing, let alone going along with it. I liked Brett and he is the only reason I kept reading the book. L.P. Dover wrote an interesting story and I found myself finishing it even with my issues with Melissa.
