I was thinking to myself throughout this book that I was going to give it 5 stars, really liking this author. But up until the end of the book, I'm still waiting for that big secret, that big reveal about Gabrielle. Reading about her World War II memories was thrilling and quite sad, but the way the author made it sound, it was as if Gabrielle killed someone, and I was actually thinking it was going to be revealed that she had something to do with the death of her friend Irina. But no. Everything fell perfectly into place, happily ever after. Even the mother Deborah had nothing earth shattering to share and just went on her merry way. She could have at least crashed her daughter's wedding! What a disappointment from BTB! I have read all of her books and immensely enjoyed 90% of them......this was not one of them. The love at first sight made me 'roll my eyes'.....really?? In 2012? Come on! I was excited to find a new book by one of my favourite authors.......I should have left it where I found it. The only part I enjoyed at all was Gabriele's story of her life in Germany during WW2, this part alone had 'substance' and the only reason I finished it.
What do You think about Uma Carta Inesperada (2012)?
This author never disappoints! I buy her new releases without even reading the back of the book.

Loved the book - great way to weave WWII history into a present day love story
