Un Romano Per Amico: Mangia, Prega, Ama A Roma (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

After going to Rome this past summer, I could really appreciate all the landmarks that are mentioned in the book. What a great way to reminisce! The first third of the book was about Luca's childhood and all the great areas and food he grew up with. The middle of the book was mainly about his travels to the U.S.. And, the last third of the book was mainly about his friendly attraction to Elizabeth Gilbert and showing her Rome and his involvement with her book Eat, Pray, Love. I thought the flow of the book was a little slow. I found myself skipping around to get the meaning ,but sometimes some of the narrative details would lose my interest.Overall, I recommend this book to those who love Rome and could appreciate all of Spaghetti's descriptive views of his country. I haven't read "Eat, Pray, Love" (the famous book by Elizabeth Gilbert), but I saw the movie. Luca Spaghetti is the guy who Elizabeth meets when she's in Rome for three months and from whom she learns to enjoy good food. He wrote a book about his life, his Rome, his love for music, his travels to the US and of course, Elizabeth's visit. It's easy to ready, funny sometimes, but he's clearly not a dialogue writer. He made me want to visit Rome!
