A really helpful read. As a Christian attending a Mormon book club this book really helped me understand more of the inner workings of Mormonism, their doctrine of works, and both the draw of and the deceptiveness of the Mormom faith. I appreciated that it was the true story of a real couple who converted to Mormonism and then, after raising their family in the church, became Christians and left the Mormon church. I feel like I understand more about the LDS church, can have more meaningful conversations with those I know in it and have a greater compassion for them. I read this book in three days. A total page turner. I love books that educate me about a different world, and this one certainly did. This book not only opened my eyes to Mormonism but softened my heart and humbled me toward Mormons. I began to think of the Mormon missionaries I see on the streets as guys who are probably away from their families and are devoting their time and energy to a cause they may believe in very much. This book made me want to love Mormons. I loved the reminder that discipleship often begins before conversion and that many people do experience great loss when they choose to follow Jesus.
Just read this after Adams Road was at our church. Good information - I learned quite a bit.
