After leaving the party Friday night without being reprimanded, he had dropped Callie off at her house, never telling her they had had an audience. No phone calls or emails had been received. So far, so good. The final test would be the partner meeting held every Monday morning. Donahue always led the meeting and Phillip was certain that if Donahue knew what had happened, it would be written on his face. Briefcase in hand, he waited for the elevator. The doors opened. He got in along with a couple of college kids who worked in the mail room. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves as the doors moved to close. “Wait!” a feminine voice called out. To Phillip’s annoyance, one of the boys hit the Open Door button. His patience was even thinner than usual. Anna Beth waltzed in, locking eyes with Phillip. “Thanks,” she told the kid as a smile curled her lips. Instead of turning to face the front of the elevator like a normal person, she stood facing Phillip.
