Loved this book.Spencer is a young Duke but he is so rigid. Amelia is counting down the days until her and her family can leave London for the country. She doesn't care about the Season. But due to the carelessness of her brother, she may lose her country home. The brother has gambling debts to the Duke. She confronts the Duke at the one mid-night dance when he attends a ball. Due to a death of a friend they rush off to visit the dead friend's sister. Since Amelia is seen leaving with the Duke and she is out all night, she is now compromised. The story continues with the mystery of the death of a friend, a lost coin that gives rights to a horse for breeding (Stud Club) and Amelia and Spencer trying to work through their marriage. Ranchy Regency. The main female character, Amelia Claire d'Orsay, slowly reveals her trauma hidden charms and character. Amelia`s wit, intelligence & loyalty hold strong appeal as she confronts and manages different situations that arise.Spenser, the Duke of Morland, appears to create a mysterious, foreboding, character while infact coping with his own foibles.I enjoyed the twists, turns and emotional pull as the story unfolds.
