Vampire Knight Limited Edition, Vol. 19 (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Finally, finished! Like many, I thought the series should have ended with the Rido arc. While the continuation had potential, it was unfocussed and hard to follow. Even the artwork started getting less focussed. As for the ending, it took a few readings before I could figure out what the heck supposed to have happened. Actually, there are still a few gaps. Yuki's development has never sat right with me and still doesn't. We have a strange triangle that just is hard to reconcile. With plot aside, I do enjoy Hino's color artwork and really enjoyed the special edition illustration collection, Last Night. While I don't generally like her artwork, her key drawings are haunting and intriguing. I like the ones she had done for publication in the Lala features. I'm so glad we can get a copy of it in color in this little mini-collection. Okay. When this series began, I loved it. It was just the right amount of dark and light-hearted. It was entertaining! But then we get to the middle of the series. And Kaname biting Yuki makes her a vampire because she always was a vampire?! Okay...that's a bit of a stretch, but fine. Then we find out Kaname and Yuki are betrothed siblings but that's totally cool because it's a vampire thing. JK, not siblings. Kaname is just several thousands of years old and he's actually the founding member of Yuki's bloodline. Totally okay to marry your great x150-grandfather. Oh? Now he wants to destroy all of vampire society? What the... Seriously, what went down that made the story go from super fun to super dark so fast? It's like it was progressing normalLY AND THEN THERE WAS A SHARP TURN LEFT INTO A WALL. The second storyline acter Yuki's crazy uncle comes back seems completely unthought out and bery confusing. Not to mention, the ending is just as unclear. Was Zero changed by living-furnace Kaname to be the ultimate weapon, to the point where all problems have been solved and now society has crumbled- but Kaname is still in that ice block. Magically, taking his heart out pf the furnace works thousands of years later, but it wouldn't have worked when Yuki thought to do it right away. And who's kids are those? Zero's? Is he cool with them calling Kaname "other father"? That's weird...All I'm saying is, this ending took soooooo long to some out, but it seemed rushed, disjointed, and incomplete. Ad someone who jas been readin it since the day it forst came out from in Shojo Beat (2006!) I am disappointed.
