Very Little Red Riding Hood (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
This story about a very young Little Red that turns the original intent of warning kids against talking to strangers on its head. Instead of being a scary stranger, the wolf, called "Foxie" by our intrepid tot, becomes friend. It's pretty cute and fun, if you can get past the "baby talk." It didn't bother me too much in this one, I don't like it myself, but kids might like seeing a bit of themselves in a book. Oh, you got me book! I was totally expecting a retelling of Regular Red Riding Hood, and instead, you took me in a completely different direction, with a Very Little Red Riding Hood who calls her Wolf "Foxie" and tells him "Not lello flowers. Red!" and "No touch my cakes!" I love your buildup, book, and your very satisfying ending. I can see reading this with my very own Very Little Red Riding Hood someday.
