I read several reviews before I read this and really wasn't sure what to expect since they were so varied. I have to come down on the side of the favorable ones. I enjoyed the book quite a bit. The main character was well developed and likable. Some of her goddess experiences were a little unusual, but that's magic! The secondary characters were also likable and interacted well with the main character and each other. There were enough major and minor crises to keep the action moving and keep things interesting. The main character learned from things and grew. I'm interested to see how this all carries forward into the second book of the series. This is one of those 'Eh' books. It wasn't bad, But it wasn't exactly good. Sure I liked it, And maybe if I wasn't so spoiled with other fantastic books I might like this one more, But unfortunately it just didn't measure up.Something is missing in these books. I think it's emotion. Reading about how the protaganist acts and reacts and feels leaves me unimpressed. I could care less, Because it's like the author didn't love or even like her characters. They just were.So it's lacking fire, emotion, passion. Like a book that recorded all these events, But there's no emotion to it.I want to like this book, And I want to recommend it, But it just doesn't seem worth the read. Sure it kept me somewhat entertained, But I didn't finish it with that elated and disappointed that it's over feeling that you get when you've read a good book.
What do You think about Vicious Circle (2009)?
Great book will defiantly follow the series.
