Time to get to know this new Negan villain fellow. Yep, he's a complete bastard. There's a certain amount of charm to his murderous awfulness, though, plus you've got Carl being almost as scary and that's fun to read too. I'm enjoying the storyline overall -- but half of me wants a faster resolution and a big finish, and another half of me just wants to lower the stakes and read some peaceful slice-of-life-after-the-apocalypse stuff (with zombies). Would a few issues about growing crops or scavenging or toy-making be so wrong? I am reviewing this series as a whole rather than as individual books which in my opinion is the only way to go given way they are intrinsically linked. Firstly this series is dark, grim and not for the faint hearted. It repeats some of its themes occasionally but from differing perspectives which justifies it. The art work is good and conveys the story well and overall its compulsive reading. For the fans of the show please note there are differences between the books and the TV show however this isn't a problem and like Game of Thrones it's welcome.
