We Are Anonymous. Parmy Olson (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
A well-researched, well-written, thoughtful and sensitive account of hacker culture (for once). It stands out from others I have read in the past because of the author's embrace of each character's personal story and the circumstances of their lives surrounding their online personas. A similar story written by someone closer to this community could have easily resulted in a more shallow or skewed portrayal of events. Because the author is clearly not a techie and not engulfed in the dramas of this community, she's able to skillfully sift through the "social engineering" with a skeptical eye and get to the human guts of motivations and outcomes. It feels like a prequel to something. What that something becomes we'll all have to wait and see. How much do you know about Anonymous, beyond that they wore V For Vendetta masks and compromised SONY?Did they really take down the FBI website? WE ARE ANONYMOUS answers all these questions .As a true science fiction fan it was a pleasure to read this non-fiction book. It reaks like a novel with a small drama part: )Im giving three stars , because in my opinion it could have been better written; ) Still worth of reading fot those who like be "detectives" in normal life and taste a bit of secrets of todays world
What do You think about We Are Anonymous. Parmy Olson (2012)?
A fascinating look into a world I knew very little about. The book seemed very well researched.
