Where Mercy Is Shown, Mercy Is Given (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

If you are a fan, you already know Dog's dysfunctional history. His candid honesty about who he is and what he's done is to be commended. This book was written for damage control over his 'N word' controversy. I don't buy that he didn't know better, or understand how his Native American blood tied in to special dispensation to fling the word into conversations. He was told by those whose opinion he valued that his use of the word would one day derail him. But Dog's ego and his belief that he is on a mission from God to save the world, kept him from taking their advice. I like Dog. He doesn't pretend to be anyone other than who he is. And its evident that he has made an impact on those who needed someone larger than life to step in with advice and encouragement. However, his huge ego turned me off. By the end of the book, I had a headache from so much eye rolling. It's great that he is driven to save the world and be a positive influence on those who have lost their way. But Dog-- Dude! A little humility goes a long way. I'm a huge of Dog the Bounter Hunter. I love the show, and I read his first book, "You Can Run But You Can't Hide". I love how strong Dog's faith is and how he incorporates not just in his personal life, but his professonal life as well. While You Can Run dealt with Dog's birth and early life, crazy motorcyle gang days, prison and then bounty hunting, this book was more about the mercy shown to him after his drug addict son, Tucker, recorded him saying the N word. Dog's angry rant cost him his TV show for a period of time and led him into his darkest days. It truly tested his faith. I don't condone what he did, but there are a lot more particulars to the story that weren't necessarily released. The book also has "intermission" where tough bounty hunting cases are shown. And it also details more of his struggles after apprehending Andrew Luster as well as problems with the IRS, fellow bounty hunters etc. He also discusses his marriage and partnership with Beth his relationship with his children, and his faith. Overall, a great read!
