Who We Are (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

3.5 starsThe Kid was more believable here and I liked the introduction of Isaiah. It was nice to catch up with Bear and Otter, but I've got enough craziness going on in my own head and I don't necessarily need to read Bear's brain cycling through the gears... I read to escape that! I will say these books are very funny and I like the story, I just feel they can be a bit wordy and that takes me away from it a little... I like it, it was kind of cute, not much interaction between Bear and Otter, it was most a book about Kid and Bear's relationship. And how the kid annoyed me really, they way he talked disrespectfully to Bear or any other adult, his condescending attitude (no wonder he had no friends) his childish tantrums when he couldn't get away with it.He was just a brat, a genius but a brat.I kept waiting for Bear to punish him, to send him to his room. And the kid mocked Bear bc Bear was such a softy, very bad childhood rearing, in my opinion. But under the circumstances what can we expect. Two other things that really bother me, but sadly it doesnt happen just in this book but in several M/M books. It is the child's aids.Like the Childhood services "Oh I have to see a lot of terrible homes, but this is the first time that I see a very good childhood home" seriously what a c****, do you really want me to swallow that in 20 or so years of your profession you haven't seen a good home for a child? then what the hell is USA doing to its children, really. The second thing that bothers me is the psychologist, but I think this it's bc I am one myself, lines like "You are the one that make this possible, you are important to the child, keep doing" What the H***!!! As a psychologist I would be telling the parent what he should do in the house, not how perfect the parent is, if everything were perfect the parent wouldn't be going to the psych on the first place.or the description that all psychologists are psychoanalysts, Im sorry but psychoanalysis is just a branch, there is cognitive, behaviorism, humanism, post-modernism...The other thing I didnt like it was the narrative, like Bear was talking to the readers, to me it is a sign that the author doesnt know how to tell a story so he turns his book into a chat session.I did like the first book more, had more romance, but nevertheless after all my complains I think this book is way better that many m/M books out there, is not a porno to be begin with, if follows a good pace in romance, so in overall is good quality.
