Wolf In Gucci Loafers (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SERIOUS SPOILERS: This release snuck up on me, I didn’t even know this book was out! Go figure, it came out the day after April 15th, while I was still recovering from the bomb blast of the tax deadline at work. So I was so tickled pink to see this one out! I enjoyed the first immensely, it was incredibly done and the chemistry and characters were awesome! Not so much the second one, I’m afraid. I was excited for Lindsey to get his own book, but he turned out to be a bit more irritating this time around sadly enough. Lots of ‘dear’ and ‘darling’ when addressing everyone from his grandfather to his lover which got old and irritating fast. The Super Granny thing didn’t make a whole lot of sense except as a poor plot device, and the werewolf aspect didn’t play into the story barely at all, except towards the end. The insta-lust into love happened too fast (hello, getting married after only a month and a half?), and the story didn’t feel fleshed out. I did like Seth and I adored little Jazz and his fairy tale happy ending from poor to rich and fed, but I disliked how Lindsey lied to Seth more than once, and over Bruce, who was so painfully obviously the ‘bad guy’ that it was an insult to the reader!I hope the next installment regains the glory of the first. I had hoped for a cameo by Cole and Paris, and we did get a little bit of them, but not enough of Paris to satisfy. Overall it was an ok book, a quick read but ultimately disappointing to a fan of this author. So Lindsey is a poor little rich boy. He's flamboyant and proud and his family loves him, but unknown to them, he's half werewolf. That means he's not totally accepted by any full-werewolf, yet his wolf is too much for most humans (he's always afraid he'll lose control in bed and do damage--or at best, reveal himself when it's pretty much a death-sentence for a human to know about the pack and for a wolf to reveal themselves to a human). So, Lindsey distracts himself by helping out his best friend Cole, having occasional sex with those who don't turn him on enough to lose control, and roaming around saving humans from bad-guys, vigilante style, as a stronger-than-usual human. That is, until he crosses paths with Seth, a hunky cop, who is involved in the case of a kidnapper who is targeting the wealthy families in the area. Lindsey is asked to help introduce Seth into his social circle.Lindsey is immediately attracted, even though he knows it will never work out. Both Lindsey and Seth are great. Seth doesn't think Lindsey is at all his type, but he's immediately attracted also. I really wanted these two to work things out!The kidnappings makes a nice mystery/suspense plot to help bring these guys together. Nothing too horrific, nor too lightweight. It's an enjoyable story, all around. Characters from the previous book show up briefly, but it's not necessary to have read that book to understand this one. It's not a brilliant, gripping tale totally deserving 5 stars, but I liked it and I feel in an easy-going mood because of it, so, hey...
