The surprise on Alex’s face, the fear on Devyn’s, and Rene’s ugly sneer when he’d tried to kill us. He had no idea what would have happened. Simon would have been furious to lose all that money. I shoved the notebook into my pillow case and stretched out on the bed. I wasn’t sure how long I laid there, because I fell asleep not long after my head hit the pillow.
