“Wrong Kind of Love” is book two in the series young love. This whole book is from Grace and Jaden’s point of view of everything that happened in “This Beautiful Thing” and much more. Grace is in the roller-coaster of the Harper twins and trying to juggle a double life. The whole time the twins are fighting over her. Caden, dating her, and Jaden, sleeping with her. She had to run away and protect herself as Kayla. She was gone with no explanation other than what they knew about her as Kayla. Her stepdad was chasing her and her brother. She came back to Arkansas, right to Jaden, sleeps with him and then tells Caden she wants to be with Jaden. The characters are confusing in this story. Grace the preppy, blonde, air head, 18 year old is just a cover up. Kayla is the girl’s real name. She is really a 17 year old pot head that likes to wear tons of black. Her and her brother Aiden are in hiding from their molester stepdad. Caden was Grace’s perfect boyfriend but the real Kayla was in love with Jaden. These were Grace’s best friend and roommate, Teagan’s twin brothers. The setting is the same as “This Beautiful Thing.” They were in the fall of freshmen year at a college in Arkansas they spend holidays at the Harper’s home not far from campus. Kayla had to go into hiding when her stepdad almost found her. Aiden and Kayla went to Arizona for two years. She came back to Arkansas without her brother, all for the twins. There is some great themes here. One is you have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. Kayla’s step father thought of her and Aiden as his property and was a powerful politician. They had to run away to save them from what he was doing. The other great theme is no matter how hard you try to be someone else you are who you are. Kayla gave everything to become Grace but it didn’t change who she was. With Jaden she could be Kayla, that’s what attracted her so much.Just like “This Beautiful Thing” I loved this book, it had romance, fear, and mystery. This book had a lot more sexual content and strong language. If that is not your thing I wouldn’t suggest reading these books. I absolutely recommend this book, the ending made me cry and those are the best kind. I recommend “Wrong Kind of Love” to mature adults, 17 and older because of the strong content. This was a great read but worth it though. 3.5 StarsGirl meets boy, likes him. Boy meets girl, likes her. They get together. Seems simple enough doesn't it? But things aren't as they first appear.Grace is a troubled young woman who meets Caden Harper and is instantly attracted to him. She quickly discovers that he likes rough sex, and it would appear so does she. But is she really Grace, or is she hiding her true identity from him?Caden has a twin brother, Jaden. Grace's brother David decides that Jaden would be more suited to Grace as Caden is the typical bad boy/womaniser type. Grace agrees, but instantly knows she has made the wrong decision. She just cannot stay away from Caden, and they have more than a few dalliances while she is with Jaden.Grace is so unsure of what she wants all the time that she constantly goes between Caden and Jaden, without letting anyone else know, except her brother. She is trying to do what is right and keep her brother safe, but in doing the 'right thing' she has the ability to cause a lot more hurt to a lot of people.Caden also has problems from his past which dictate how he is in the present. With two people hiding secrets not only from each other but from friends and family, can they really have a future? Of course, when the secrets they are hiding finally come out, as they always do, can Grace and Caden hope to have the future they dream about? Or will they be forced to live without each other? This was quite a quick read for me. It wasn't a subject matter I was 100% comfortable reading if I'm totally honest, as it involves cheating. It has a lot of graphic sex scenes in it as well as a lot of swearing so would definitely recommend this book for those over 17 at least. At times the storyline really annoyed me, especially with Grace constantly bouncing back and forward between the brothers. It's bad enough cheating, but when you cheat with your, so called, boyfriends brother, it's so much worse in my eyes. The storyline aside, the book was just ok for me.
What do You think about Wrong Kind Of Love (2000)?
I liked it. But sometimes Grace/Kayla got on my nerves. I was just like "make up your mind, girl".
