Picked this up because I thought it would be funny. I had read his articles in the past which were mildly smirkable but this is not funny. I think it feels dated even though it is new. His observations or stories sound like jokes from the 1980s or 90s which might have been his prime. Comedy can be personable so others might enjoy it but I caution the average person looking for a bit of humor to just pass this one up. I find comedy-type books to listen to for my commute and this book made the drive fly by! It is so funny, and possibly made more so because it's being read by the author. He has a long section on his family's trip to Israel that is hilarious and, surprisingly, offers a bonus history/geography lesson, too. After I listened to this book I listened to George Carlin's Braindroppings and didn't even finish that one. Not only was it obviously dated, but Carlin's "book" is much more like the stand-up routines in which he made his living.
Dave Barry is always side-splittingly funny, and this book is no exception!
