A clever look at numbers, especially the unique powers of the number zero. Feeling pretty down about his place among the other numbers Zero finds it hard to embrace his greatest talent: the ability to extinguish the other numbers during multiplication.Zero runs away so as not to multiply his friends into nothingness, but the numbers realize how truly lost they are without zero. When roman numerals take over, Zero finally has the chance to be the hero he knows himself to be!A fun read aloud for classroom use. This book is full of comic gems. I liked how each number displayed a different personality and all of the humorous side comments will crack parents and teachers up. PreK-2. So clearly I like picture books for older kids that are very clever. This book is about numbers and it would be great to use as more of as a review or introduction to place holding, zero multiplication, addition, subtraction, any of those things. But, because of the figurative language in this book, I really think that it would be best for older kids. the cute little jokes will go over the younger kids heads.
