i obviously didn't mind the book since i read the whole trilogy. however, i felt the pacing wasn't right. i felt the action didn't deliver enough punch, it could have been more exciting. some of the narrative, as well as gwyenth's thoughts, was redundant. the heroine didn't grow enough excepting that she has accepted her destiny. gwyenth and gideon's deep love for each other seemed to suddenly happen without the usual lead-up and then surging realization of heat/passion felt for each other that i have come to expect (and enjoy) in ya novels with romance. after all, there's nothing like the portrayal of an intense romance that portrays the truth of how young adults feel when involved in a romance during this age.overall, an ok 'interim' read (while i was waiting for another book to come to me from the library). While I loved the series overall, I was left with too many questions regarding Gwendolyn's immortality (sorry, I still can't call her Gwyneth--it's the most useless name translation I've ever come across; they call her Gwen or Gwenny most of the time anyway, so what the heck was the point??). The last few chapters felt rushed and I understand the feeling of wanting it to be a race against time, but I felt like the final "plan" was never fully explained or discussed and the twist reveal, as a result, felt more like a "Oh, okay...", than a "Whaaaaaat?!?" That being said I enjoyed the trilogy, even with its quirks (mostly due to things I think were lost in translation).
