They opened outwards but were only held closed by a single metal catch. The catches looked sturdy enough but I doubted if they would be strong enough to hold back zombies en masse. We still didn’t know enough about what they were able to do. We’d only experimented on the woman in the Range Rover to see how they could be killed. Were they capable of climbing up and over obstructions? The ones we’d seen previously hadn’t done that, but we’d watched them get back up after being knocked down so it was probable that they could climb stairs and therefore also negotiate their way over things.
