Here is the deal. There are major 'pros' to this book and a 'con' warning.First of all, this book was one of the most witty stories I have read in a long time. I loved the plot, the characters, and the history behind the love story. Mystery, humor, and beauty was what this book contained... I might even start bird watching because of it :) BUT! Deanne Gist, a talented author, has a tendency to push the line with the romance. Watch out for the kissing scenes...cause they do have some "steam." This one made my face turn red a time or too. (P.S. They just kiss)Con: Along with the "kissing theme" I have to disagree with the sudden romance that developed between the characters, um, in this story. Spoiler ahead! I thought it was contrary to Georgie's character to all of a sudden make out with some guy that she just met...and by make out - I do mean make out. Goodness! That was my only major beef with the novel. I struggled to give it four stars. The dialog is excellent...but I could not get over the almost - too-in-depth romance parts. If I bought this book...still debating... I would edit it, pronto! The humor and magic at the end still makes me loyal to the Christian based author, but I hope she never turns to the dark side. I have always loved Deeanne Gist novels, and this one fell right in line with that. I loved this book because the main character, Georgie Gail, had grit and spunk. I would say most of this author's female characters tend to be that way, which is what I love about her books. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good read that is relaxing, funny, intense, suspenseful, and just about anything else you can think of. Deanne Gist hits a homerun once again with this truly enjoyable book.

This is a good Christian read and gives insight into how our pioneers lived and worked.
