Gift from a friend. Story: Publishing industry back stabbing, who dun it murder mystery. An editor who has morals of an Alley Cat, has burned a lot of bridges. She is not a hateful person, however, she has slept with most of her friends, husbands, fiances or lovers, and is now public enemy #1 with most females. They all hate her. She does have a few friends, or thinks she does, and is astonished when she finds out her boss is dead, and she is number one suspect, because, all the evidence points to her.Manipulated and not knowing it, she walks into trap after trap, until the final day when her enemies and her lover have ruined her, or so they think, she thinks so too! All she has left is her lovely dad, her lesbian assistant Emma, and her wonderful gay writer friend Oliver, who no one believes in except her. She will not give him up, she fights to get him published, she knows Tom Cruise would be great for the lead in his book. Which no one likes, except....her and Tom. Can she come back from the brink, she has a good idea now who murdered her boss and the conspiracy to ruin her and why is now clear. She will move on and beat them all.Looking forward to finding that book two! I think the main character was a bit masculine in some ways that she behaved and you could see that the other author is male. The ending was a bit surprising, I would have expected to get a more definit closure for the book. The people acted very harsh in this book, including the main character, and that's what caused me not to like this book as much as I had without it. This wasn't typical chick-lit, but a good read anyway.

An interesting look into the publishing business.
