A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Future...: Twists And Turns And Lessons Learned (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I give it a 3.5, and I would also give it as a college graduation gift. This book weaves stories of MJF's life with lessons learned to advise graduates that basically you are not in control of your future. But...there are things to consider and choices to make that will guide your path. Even as a teacher, I agree that life's lessons are an important education. I further contend that you must be willing and open to that education as well. I stop short of the 4th star due to, what I feel is an abrupt ending. Worth the quick read! To start, "A Funny Thing Happened..." isn't the kind of book you'd pay full price for. Pick it up for cheap and read it in a single afternoon, because the book is very short and only runs roughly 100 pages or so.That said, the book is a quick, breezy read that takes you through Fox's career at a glance, particularly concerning his dropping-out from high school and move to Los Angeles. While this material may have been covered in greater detail elsewhere (as of this writing, I own "Always Looking Up", but haven't read through it yet), it is an effective primer to Fox's life and a good read for anyone who doesn't know anything about him.The book shamelessly markets itself as a great gift for graduates, but the overriding message is fairly simple: "never stop learning". If you're in the mood for a quick read or something to pep you up, this is a decent book to pick up.

A sweet little gift book of anecdotes by the guy everyone likes, Michael J Fox.
