A Grant Of Arms (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

The more I read these, the more frustrated I get, that such a good concept is being driven into the ground. It doesn't appear that this author has a single thought of his own in these books. Star Wars, anyone? The predictability of these books borders on the absurd. If you've watched a movie or read a book in the last 20 years, you could predict everything that's about to happen. Even the twists aren't gripping anymore because they're so predictable. The idea behind this book is great, but I wish it was in the hands of a more capable author. First off I am a big fan of this series. Morgan Rice actually told me that this will be an ongoing series with no end in sight which is absolutely great news. However I now begin to feel a niggle, because especially in this book there are way to many storylines cramped into this books. For books that are not that long (200-300 pages) compared to other epic fantasy series these are great, but because they are so short I feel as though there should be less storylines to follow. You don't get such a great experience from each character because of the alotted time. Please for the upcoming books if they are the same length reduce the number of different storylines. With that said it was still a fantastic read. I bought it the morning and finished well before lunch. It picks up where the previous one left off with Thor in enemy hands, Gwen looking for Argon to rescue Thor, Reece search for the sword and the continuation of the war from 3 different perspectives (See too many!). It does in fact leave us with the biggest cliffhanger ending to date...
