A Plain And Simple Christmas (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

This book is a nice, short story of an Amish Christmas. The title pretty much says it all: plain & simple. This is a story about Anna Mae, who left her Amish family to marry an English man and live in the city. Pregnant with her first child, she wants nothing more than to reconnect with her family. But that's easier said than done. Anna's Mae's father is the bishop, and he is bound and determined not to forgive her...can he even do so? It's hard on everyone with Anna Mae being back, but it's good for everyone to see each other again after not having contact for three years. I couldn't even imagine not seeing my family for so long! But when Anna Mae starts labor, and their car is stuck on the side of the road in a blizzard, panic strikes. But lo and behold, Kellan's conversation with Anna Mae's father, Henry, struck home. Henry realizes he is not being Christian in being so harsh to Anna Mae and Kellan, and apologizes! Not only is the family blessed with a Christmas miracle of the child being born, but their family is brought back together, to enjoy many more Christmases. A cute, short read. Not quite what I expected - and not so 'Christmassy', but cute nonetheless. This was an amazing story. I enjoyed the entire Kauffmann Bakery Series, and had heard mention of Anna Mae so it was nice to see a story about her. Amy Clipston has a way of words and describing the Amish Culture/Religion. Every time I read one of her books I find myself learning more and more. This was such a fascinating story, Anna Mae's family had to face her for the first time since she was shunned. It's very much a story of acceptance as well a family's love.

What do You think about A Plain And Simple Christmas (2000)?

Predictable storyline, but enjoyable nonetheless. I do love a happy ending.
