I read this as part of a collection of ten books that I got. I am not sure if I'd previously read this author or not. I may have seen her name, but I don't remember if I'd tried a book- or if I did, it might have been in a collection. Is this a standalone? This was the first story in this series so obviously you can pick this up and not be lost (win!). I'm glad, cause I really don't like being introduced to a series by starting with book two or later. I'm picky enough to want to know the beginning before I know the end. Will I read the next in the series? Probably, I just don't know when. I was entertained, but wasn't dazzled blind by this book. Bad editing? The Epilogue (which was listed as Chapter Eighteen) said it was 'one week later' however the first sentence of the fourth paragraph starts was 'Over the past year'. Small thing, but it jumped out at me.Not a bad read overall. Well, I have to say, I think Carolyn Crane is a genius. This type of book is normally a casual fluffy read for me... fun, not substance. But Carolyn Crane really elevates the romantic suspense genre to new heights!I LOVE Carolyn Crane's writing style, her extremely unique and lovable characters, and her creativity in crafting this novel. The cover is so typical and boring--the characters aren't. I mean, who thinks up a hero who is a linguist and tracks criminals through their language? It is so HOT. Anyway, loved this book. Highly recommend it for a fun action romance read.
