Wow. I have read any shifter stories lately and forgot just how dominate their world usually is. This is Ms. Reus' first book and I have to say I'm looking forward to her next. Especially after reading the excerpt ...In a lot of ways, this world is like many others and the author repeats herself quite a bit while world-building HOWEVER there is something special about this one. I loved the idea of Analena being the Alpha of her pack, even tho it came about in such a sad way. I also loved how stern she was about doing what was best for her all-female pack but that she wasn't such a badass-wanna-be that she didn't do what was RIGHT for them (ya gotta read the book!). But of course the abso-best part of this novel was Connor, the Alpha who left Ana as a teenager rather than hurt her (just read it!). He is the ultimate sex-on-a-stick and classic man who loves deeply but is afraid to TALK *imagine that*, and so is his brother, Liam, who is being set up for the sequel. But the theme of hate-crimes keeps the book serious enough that even with all the sex (or thoughts about sex), I'm classing this in UF or Dark PNR. Raw, not too romantic.Even tho the writing is not eloquent nor the world totally unique, this is a series I will follow for as long as Ms. Reus writes it. I wish her luck in her endevours. Ok. where do I start? first of all, I normally don't read werewolf stories. Don't ask why, I just do. SO when i stumble across this book, I was skeptical at first but when I got it and started reading...HOLY HELL. SO HOT. Connor? WOW. Hot in both werewolf and human form. That's saying something. Other than that, it was a really good book because it had all the things I liked in my books. Sizzling chemistry? check. Hot alphas? check. Badass werewolves getting cocky and making a fool of themselves? check. Cute romance between main characters? double check. This book made me change my view on werewolves. I sort of like hot steamy kind of books and this book was just that, giving me the entertainment I needed to keep me occupied for a few hours it took to finish this book. Seriously. This book was really good, despite the fact that I don't really like werewolves. Definitely recommended.
