This book was an unexpected treasure. It's a collection of Amish proverbs. The book is organized by category ex. money, faith, family, word & deed, work ethic, handling adversity, community, etc with a brief introduction to each chapter explaining background information regarding the Amish way of life.Some of my favorite Amish proverbs:"The most important thing in your home are people.""Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.""An unkind remark is like a killing frost - no matter how much it warms up, the damage is already done.""A smile is a curve that can straighten out a lot of things""Whoever talks about others will also talk about you.""He talked much but said little""A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery of a detour.""The person who says it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it."
