Amulet #4: The Last Council (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Emily, Leon, Navin, and gang have landed on Cielis, but what they find is not the city they expected. Something is horribly wrong on the legendary floating city. First of all, Emily is forbidden from talking to the Council until she tries out for a spot at the academy to become a council member, which just feels wrong. Second, Leon and others quickly discover that the citizens are living in constant fear and lots of them are being locked up for trivial reasons. Emily soon figures out she isn't going to get the help she expected from the Stonekeepers, and instead of getting help from them, she may need to save Cielis. The plot gets a little more complicated (if that's even possible) here, and more is revealed about the power source of the amulet. Again, glad I have the next book to snatch up right away. And also again, loved the artwork.Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. There are more battles, primarily with amulet power, but also sword fights and attacks by some evil orc-ish looking creatures. Again, blood and gore are kept to the minimum. Cover: I love that the cover conveys what is to come in this book so to speak. It give a glimpse of what Emily with her family and friends are up to in their journey.Things that I did like: I really like how this series just keeps continuing where the previous books left off. I enjoy reading about these characters but I am really happy that they end one book and the next book starts right up where it left off. It doesn't seem like time has passed. I really joy looking at all of the colors that are used throughout the graphic novel. The illustrators did a really good job with the colors and the drawing out the enemies and obstacles that Emily and friends have to go through and deal with. I really enjoyed seeing that story progress as well just as any other book would. Things that I didn't like: I don't have any complaints on this one.Overall: I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars, and I would highly recommend this series and this book to me friends.
