An American Lamb In Europe (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I really love this author, and it's true that since he has been published, he has mellow a little bit.His stories are not as hot or raw as his free ones.I wonder if now with a publisher he has some kind of guidelines to follow and he can't be as free with his writing as before.Even though, I have seeing this kind of plots in the past, this story wasn't bad at all. This author write the most lovely, steamy sex scenes, and his characters are always so charming, it's a real pleasure to read his books. If you read this story without comparing his past work, or comparing him with other writers, then for sure you will enjoy this as much as I did. I found this kind of disappointing. This author has some really great free stories which I have enjoyed, and a great sci fi series which is among my favourite books, so I automatically bought this one and I read it but I was bored. The story was just too predictable and full of overused tropes. Younger brother goes missing in Europe, sends older brother cryptic message, older brother goes to look for him, meets vampire, gets involved in vampire turf war and falls in love.I have to confess that I didn't read the blurb carefully and so this is partly my fault, but still I think this could have been better. The story just felt so ordinary and familiar - kind of so so. If you have been reading mm for some time trust me you will be bored because it is just so similar to all the other vampire/shifter mm stories out there. But if you are new to the mm genre then it is a nice enough read. Just not for me.Of course the best sibling rescue story has already been done - see Karen Marie Moning's m/f Fever series. I am afraid the Fever series has spoilt all other sibling rescue stories for me. I am yet to find another author who can top the creation of the mysterious Jericho Barrons from the Fever series (sigh). In this story the equivalent to Jericho (love interest Tomas) is a vampire but the mystery, darkness, and erotic allure just doesn't come across and it didn't feel real. Everything felt rather flat and that is why i found it boring. So alas I found this story kind of lacking :( It won't put me off reading other stories from this author though because he has some really great stuff, just that this one was a no go for me.
What do You think about An American Lamb In Europe (2014)?
I'm hoping there will be a sequel with Rudy and possibly Horst.
