Must be something in the air. This is the second story related to bucket list that i've come across this week. Hmm.. The story is about Abby, who was pretty devastated after she was dumped by her long-time boyfriend. She started absorbing herself in her work & avoiding family/friends. One day she had an accident, causing injury to the head specifically where the memory function is. At first, she tried to deny it but one day she played the piano without ever remembering learning it. It initially triggered panic in her, but also made her realized that this condition is permanent. After seeing her brother-in-law's memory chest created for his daughter, she decided that she too wants to create a memory chest of her own. Especially when she barely had any memorable memories, given her reclusive behavior after the breakup. So begins her bucket list of things that she wanted to do, plus things that her family & friends thought up for her. Melissa Hill gets glowing reader reviews on Amazon but I thought this book was extremely mediocre. I think an average 12 year old could read it - it's written in that 'and then she said' and 'then she...' style which I find tedious. I couldn't even finish it I got so bored - with books like this I usually skim read the last half to see what happens, but I haven't even bothered doing that with this one!
