Attack Of The Birthday Bunny (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
When I saw this book on the shelf at the library, I couldn't resist picking it up. And when I saw it was by Jon Scieszka, I knew I'd have to bring it home with me. I'm sure many others from my generation will, like me, be immediately reminded of Strong Bad's "Everyone is Different." As funny as that particular sbemail was, this is much more suitable as an actual children's book.I first read this to my 4-year-old daughter as "Birthday Bunny" at her request. This is still the version she prefers. But when my wife read "Battle Bunny" for bedtime story that night, it caught the attention of my 7-year-old son and even managed to entice him away from his "Annoying Orange" graphic novels (which I happen to despise).I think the best thing about this book is that it can entertain people of all ages. If you want, you can read "Birthday Bunny" to more tender-hearted children like my daughter, all the while enjoying "Battle Bunny" silently to yourself. I didn't want to like the book Battle Bunny by Jon Scieszka, but I'll have to say, I was entertained. It's a true depiction of how a child might honestly interact with a book, especially a boy. Battle Bunny is about a rogue birthday bunny bent on destroying the world. It's a book filled with potential and imagination. If nothing else besides pure entertainment, I think this book could be used as a launching point to talk to kids about what hopes and aspirations.
What do You think about Attack Of The Birthday Bunny (2013)?
I liked the highly original concept better than the outcome.
