Captured on D-Day, Evanick had been transported to a series of prisons and stockades prior to arriving at Chartres. The agent asked him whether he had ever listened to German propaganda: The Gestapo man questioned me regarding the German political system, their military and propaganda set-up and asked if I had ever listened to German propaganda. I answered I had listened to “Sally” as did many other soldiers.
