Because You Are Mine: The Complete Novel (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
So lets get the Fifty Shades comparisons out of the way - this book is infinitely better, mostly because I didn't want to stab the main characters in the eye with a fork. Francesca actually has a backbone, and Ian was just an all round nicer person than Christian. (Although I'm still struggling to see what Francesca found so loveable about him.)That said, the writing is still cringe worthy in places (it does improve as you get further into the story, or perhaps I was just noticing it less) and I found some aspects of their love story a little too eye-roll-inducing for my tastes. At first I thought it was a bit of fifty shades..rich alpha dominant male, innocent art type wide-eyed girl that is unaware of her beauty. Then I came to realize this is EXACTLY LIKE fifty shades. He enlists her to paint for hi just like Christina enlisted Ana for a "photoshoot". They even did that one break up scene before they got together and the guy realized he couldn't live without her and came begging back. I do not understand why Francesca just does whatever Ian says given that she barely knows him. I mean Ian said he will punish her after almost getting that tattoo, and she just willingly gets into the car and accepts?!?!? NO, that is not what happens. And she just "lives" with two heterosexual males?? Wasn't she supposed to be innocent towards sex? How is she so willing to go through Ian's paddling? And she's also a friggen virgin?? Seriously, a gorgeous 23 year old girl with an amazing body is a virgin?DNF at 40%

3 1/2 stars. Okay but not memorable at all.
