The detectives who had been shadowing him all day must have stopped for the evening, because he did not see their ever-present police car. Jeff was probably long gone by now, he thought to himself. You drive,” he said, jumping into the passenger seat. “Drive up Congress toward Interstate 95, then head north.” Ryan put the car into gear and slowly pulled away.
