I am a huge fan of McFly, and I just wanted to get it out there as quickly as possible. To be completely honest, my reason for being giddy and excited about this book and the author had a lot to do about who she's married to (Tom Fletcher) rather than her talent. I loved seeing pictures of Giovanna and Tom together, and I was mildly intrigued about who she was. I decided to follow her on Instagram and Tumblr, and through her posts I got to know her a bit more and I realized that there was definitely so much more to her than just a pretty face, so much more to her than being "Mrs. Fletcher". Which I think is why Sophie seemed a bit familiar. I loved Billy and Me, not because I'm being biased about it, but because it was a charming read. It might have been the typical "big star-meets small town girl" narrative but for the first time ever I dare say, Giovanna Fletcher captures exactly what it feels like to fall in love whilst struggling to find one's self. It's a marvelous take on life and love. It's simple yet more than enough to move you, to make you feel empathy or sympathy simply because dealing with loss, falling in love and figuring out what you want in life are things we all go through. Needless to say, I'm excited for her succeeding novels. Hopefully they too will leave us feeling more alive and hopeful. I loved this novel from the very first page, which really surprised me. I was expecting to be disappointed, preparing to feel bad if the book didn't turn out good since the author is someone I know to be lovely, intelligent and really talented. I must admit, not only did the storyline and characters blow me away, being all so lovable and unexpectedly relatable, but I also found myself really involved in it, absorbed by it, because of the way it's written. I laughed and I cried as if I was Sophie myself, something that doesn't happen to me with every book I read. I know its chick lit, but it made me feel amazing reading it. I really recommend this book to everyone that loves a good old love story!
