Bloodmagic (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Book one left me wanting to eat greedily this series.Book two not so much...it all just fell flat for me.I did not like the main heroine, Mackenzie. Mack (under the cover of a new name Jane Smith [very original] is still hiding from the Lord Alpha. She is making new friends:Ms Alcoon and the seelie, Solus and finding more about her powers. The lord Alpha is still looking for her and almost starts a war with mages, thinking she is kept captive by them but I will not go into details. She gets to save the day at the end the book (she find the cure for Corrigan and the pack). She became weak, whiny, the 'It's not fair' type, bitchy, cranky, immature and full of excuses(wanted to smack her behind her head so many times - she reminds me a bit of Katniss). I have struggled to finish this book. The chemistry between her and Corrigan was missing - another huge let down for me.Not sure I can finish this series. I liked the story, I liked the characters. In essence, the book is pretty good. But there is one thing that bothers me so much! Why, why Mack has to be smelly person ?? I think it definitely could evade to emphasis not washing! And for such a long time... And why must she vomit ?? It definitely did not have to be mentioned. Especially since she pukes in front of charming Lord Alpha. And of course, after that there is no time for a few days to for brushing teeth ... I think Mack is the dirtiest female character that I read about. The book is great, but it would be so much better without this tendency towards bad personal hygiene.

What a terrific follow up! Who doesn't love a strong, rough, loyal heroine?
