So because Goodreads doesn't have all the volumes of this manga listed, I'm going to put my two cents in right here. I'm late to this manga because I only ever watched the anime but after rewatching that a few days ago I really wanted to spend some more time in this fictional world so I started reading the manga. And boy do I love it! Just to paint a picture, there are 60 bundles of 4 to 5 volumes in total out of this manga and I've read 58 of those bundles in the past two days. Of course you can argue that the story of Ao no Exorcist/Blue Exorcist isn't anything special in the manga/anime world (demons have been done before) but I really like this take on the genre. It has all the standard characters (the loose canon, the stoic one, the wacky one) but all of them have an extra edge to them and they keep you invested in the story. The story is a very exciting one to follow and I love the world building and the fact that you get more insight into the world through the manga. This manga is also not afraid to get bloody and raunchy, something that the anime (though you wouldn't think that if you see Shura) tones down in some places. I love the demonic characters in this series because you just want to know what makes these characters tick. Especially concerning Mephisto Pheles. He's flamboyant, over the top and scary as fudge because you just know he's always up to something. All in all a nice manga series that is worth your time. Especially when you've seen the anime and want some more :) Another great volume of Ao No Exorcist/Blue Exorcist, with a whole lot of Rin Okamura problems and whumpage as well as some adorable Shiemi and a huge character reveal. Plus, more Amaimon which I know fans love cause he causes so much trouble every time he shows up. As usual, the art is lush and wonderful and there's an expert blend of drama and humor. I especially loved the brotherly dynamics between Rin and Yukio in this book. And the cover is simply too cute for words!
What do You think about Blue Exorcist, Vol. 3 (2011)?
EEEEEEE! It was great! I loved it. But then again I'm a sucker for this kind of manga. ;)
