This book about the skeletal systems of various animals including homans and the bones they are comprised of, as well as the function of each bone, is not only visually stunning (very bold colors and text) but it also gives great information in a simplistic manner. Kids will love turning each page to discover what's inside many animals they encounter on a regular basis (dog skeleton, for example) as well as what's inside themselves. Steve Jenkins really makes the skeletal system fun in this text! Recommended for elementary students of all ages. Bones by Steve Jenkins is an Informational Text that discusses bones of many different animals and their similarities or differences. This book also features detailed pictures that are drawn to scale in relation to each other. This text gives many interesting facts about bones as well as compares the different species bone structures. This text could be used in the classroom to extend on a lesson about animals or the human body. With this text, I could have students compare and contrast things they know about different types of animals and their bone structures. This book provides great comparisons and basic information that students could easily use as a base for projects. This book also provides an easy connection between Reading and Science instruction.
Very informative book about animals' bones with incredible artwork to boot!
