Steven Jenkins “Just a Second “is a creative book that gives us a different way to look at time. I’m not sure, but I believe this book was written within the context of science, of course math, and possibly some social studies. It is mainly a book about some interesting facts and I think this would be great to incorporate when teaching time in the classroom. The illustrations are vibrant, rich in color and fascinating to look at. the world has adapted a way to measure the passage of time that was first invented by the Babylonians. We still use these discrete measures of seconds and minutes. This book explains the history of these measures and provides an astounding number of facts about what actually happens within those times.I picked this up because I found it had been mis-shelved. I finished it because it was interesting to learn about how we have measured time for thousands of years, and to see the different things that can be done within a second or minute.I would recommend this book to Cristopher. It contains enough information that he would be interested, but not so much that he would choose not read it.
