Things had moved way too fast and I held the blame for that shoulda known better. It was too late for that now though there was a kid involved, an innocent; it’s my job to protect the innocent. To be fair Nikki was an innocent as well but her hard headed approach was going to clash with me at every turn and I can’t see me putting myself through that shit for the rest of my life and that’s what marriage is, the rest of your fucking life. After my time alone in my office I came to a final decision, the only decision really, no matter what I was going to be there for my kid, I’ll just have to get Nikki’s ass in line one way or the other. I’ve brought grown men to heel I don’t see why I couldn’t do the same with one little slip of a girl. She flitted around me for the rest of the day trying to get my attention when she’d worked up her nerve she came and crawled into my lap and I’m such a fucking sap where she was concerned I felt my heart ease a little.
