In this cute, short story by Bella Andre, Callie is stuck at a wedding for one of her clients. Callie is the one who made all of the chocolate truffles that the wedding guests are having an orgasm over. Callie is not exactly thrilled to be at a wedding where she is the only person (or so she thinks) who is unattached.Derek is finding himself at a place where he never thought he'd ever go again- the altar. He is standing in as best man for his friend, despite not wanting to be anywhere near an altar again after being left at one by his former fiancee, for having the nerve to not give up his dream of being the Candy King- rescuing failing candy stores and saving them.Callie meets Derek at the bar where she goes to drown her sorrows, and finds him doing the same. One mind-melting quickie in a walk in refrigerator later, and Callie runs out, feeling like a huge slut. Derek, on the other hand, now wants to track down the woman who's just blown his mind and make her his forever. When Callie is forced to call in reinforcements to help save her candy company from extinction, it is Derek who is her knight in shining chocolate. Despite their working together, neither can keep their hands off of each other. When a misunderstanding occurs at a family dinner, Derek goes running. Callie does everything in her power to keep Derek from giving up on her, and them.First off, I'm a sucker for anything chocolate. Throw in a romance and I'm sold. I think it's safe to say at this point that I have probably written almost everything Bella Andre has published, and my only problem with her writing is that she can't write fast enough for me. She, like chocolate, always leaves me wanting more. This book is no exception. I really want to give this a 3 star but I can't.So it is an Ellora's Cave erotica, reprinted. It is a short story/novella, not 120 pages like stated but more like 80. I give novella and short a lot of leeway on the love at first site and sex to love scenarios and being erotica you will do that here.It starts right off with titillation and then sex, and it was hot. They clicked, and when they see each other again, they have the chemistry again. So... what is wrong you say? Hot sex, sex to love, chemistry... sounds like good erotica. Well, not so much since that was only have the story. The other half is dedicated to a little sex but mostly two insecure people playing on each others insecurities and not talking, more him than her. Love is not having to say your sorry... right, well, that is the opposite here, and they are saying sorry to one another at first. Then he is needing to do it again. And when they figure it out, his first reaction makes me wonder and believe that he might end up being abusive over his insecurities and she would let him. Maybe if I knew them more and the story was longer, she could flesh them out more and I wouldn't feel that way. With the little story that there was, I was left thinking that this couple either would be hurting one another or not make it at all. Hmm... still the sex in the beginning, hot. It is why I wanted to bump it up to 3 but I just can't with the flavor I'm left with in the end. Not bad and partially good but mostly OK, erotic short.
What do You think about Candy Store (2007)?
it was hard for me to finish. it had potential but I didn't connect with it for some reason.
