This was a Nook Book deal, and it was ok. I didn't mind that the cats could talk so that humans could understand them, but the mystery was convoluted and somewhat obvious from the first intro of one of the characters. Ya just had to know it was him early on by his actions.I like the Rita Mae Brown mysteries with animals who talk, but only amongst themselves, better than these. Maybe I just like the critters in her mysteries better, or the mysteries themselves or.... I had trouble w/talking cats and telephoning cats, etc. But the it's a solid, not-quite cozy mystery. I did guess the murderer very early. But the the mystery was why. Also, there were other crimes and red herrings that were well executed. This is the 1st Joe Grey cat mystery I've read. I don't think you need to read the previous stories to enjoy this one - but I would like to understand what the deal is w/talking cats and how their humans found out, etc.The cats are likable, smart, logical, and kind. There a so many human characters in this book. I had trouble keeping track of who was who and how they were connected to all the other citizens of Molena Point.
What do You think about Cat Deck The Halls (2007)?
I love these talking, mystery solving, human-loving cats! Their humans aren't half bad either.
