3.5 Fairytale stars. This is the story about a girl who has kissed so many toads she has given up on ever finding Prince Charming ... even when she finds him. I absolutely loved the beginning of this book. It was hilarious! And being a sucker for traditional fairytales, I loved the way the heroine typed up her past relationships as "case studies", relating them to different fairytale heroes. In fact, this was the best part of the book. And I couldn't get enough. It was definitely a five-star beginning.Unfortunately, the dialogue sometimes seemed more like a monologue, where one character expressed everything (arc, thought, and insecurity) and the other person in the conversation was rarely necessary.I wasn't quite sure what Darby (heroine) thought she was doing when she thought she was "not dating" Jake, because it was quite obvious that it WAS a relationship. I think the author drew this out for a little too long and towards the end it was exhausting. But the narrative was funny and filled with some classic observations and laugh out loud commentary. It's a must-read for lovers of fairytales, and those who enjoy a chuckle down the memory lane of bad-dating catastrophes. There's a lot of wit and charm, making this a very enjoyable read.
