This is my favorite so far. Rick's emotionally empty sex life makes him reconsider his life style. He wants what his friends, Blake and Will have, a deeply committed relationship. He thinks he finds it in Jacques only to be devastated at the result. And then there is Angelo. He is what Rick had mistakenly thought Jacques was, perfect for Rick. Rick is out and has been for years. He has acceptance by his family, good friends and a great job. With Angelo in his life, he can want for nothing else. Angelo is not out. His parents are Sicilian. He fears his family discovering he is gay. When his brother sees him holding hands with Rick, Angelo becomes frozen with fear. His father demands Angelo give up being gay and marry a girl. Angelo's culture demand a child do as his parents' order. Rick is a very sympathetic character. He is believable. He is a well developed character. Angelo loves Rick but is love enough in his family? His sister is great. Her love has no qualifiers. She is also smart and brave.Loved this story. Loved the characters. I also enjoy the real British life and language in this series. I love the "two finger" salutes given. In the 70's when censors were still "cleaning up" what appeared on TV, my friend and I enjoyed watching English films and looking for this "salute" missed by those censors. Why didn't anyone tell me I was going to cry so much? My heart was shattered over Rick! He just wanted to be loved and nothing worked out. I didn't like how Will and Blake was constantly in Rick's business though. I know they are friends and everything, but COME ON give the guy some space.Angelo. Oh my sweet, sweet, Angelo. I really liked you. You were great. Then you broke my heart. How could you do that? Why do people let their families rule their lives? Seriously. I never understood it. I come from a HUGE Hispanic family and yet if they didn't support me and my life then who needs them? I can say that, because I've "dropped" numerous "family" members. You don't like me? Eff you. I don't need you. I didn't even shed a tear. I guess I don't understand how you can let someone rule you just to make THEM happy. What about YOUR happiness?I'll be reading on in this series.
