This dystopian novel is about aliens who take over by sending out a 'tone' that causes everyone over 20-21 to turn zombie-like and walk to the nearest center, never to be seen again, leaving only teens and younger children to survive and fight until they too succumb to the 'tone'. The main character is a bounty hunter(he is immune to the 'tone')who is looking for a particular girl to turn in. She is a 'freebooter' who uses artifacts to make magical items for both good and bad. They in turn, find a very young girl who has powers that the aliens don't want used. So the chase begins! Midnight City is an underground city made up of different groups, each having their own speciality, and is run on a point system. I can't begin to say enough about all the action that goes on in this book. I totally loved it and will look up the next one! I received the book free from GoodReads FirstReads. The reason I took al long time to finish this book is the fact that I have a buttload of homework and I was in a reading slump...But the book itself is fantastic. When I was reading it I was thinking that I won't read the second book, but I'm considering to read the second book. Midnight City just gets better as it reaches the end. It was action-packed and the romance was so cute. It's that I-started-hating-you-but-now-I-love-you kinda romance. I like it it's not too mushy. Overall it's pretty good... :)I want to give it 3.5/5 but the goodreads grading system has no decimal stars
